What the assignment requires
The assignment is the heart of the course and draws on everything in the Item Development unit.
- Plan: read the brief, choose suitable textiles (by their properties), select construction techniques, and work out the order of work and time.
- Make: use a pattern to cut accurately on the grain and apply a range of construction techniques (seams, finishes, fastenings, shaping) to a quality standard.
- Evaluate: test the finished item and judge it against the brief and specification, then suggest realistic improvements.
