What are weaknesses?

They use very small, unusual samples (a handful of split-brain patients, or one historical patient), so findings may not generalise to everyone. Gage's case relies partly on historical records and a reconstruction, so it is less certain. Because the patients' brains are atypical, conclusions about normal functioning are limited.
