What is the straight line?
Show answer
Two lines are parallel when their gradients are equal, m1=m2m_1 = m_2. They are perpendicular when the product of their gradients is 1-1, that is m1m2=1m_1 m_2 = -1, so each gradient is the negative reciprocal of the other.
What is q1?
Show answer
Find the gradient of the line perpendicular to 3x+y=73x + y = 7. [2 marks]
What is q2?
Show answer
Write down the centre and radius of (x+1)2+(y4)2=9(x + 1)^2 + (y - 4)^2 = 9. [2 marks]
What is q3?
Show answer
Describe the transformation taking y=x2y = x^2 to y=x25y = x^2 - 5. [1 mark]
